mxNotes is a free application compatible with Mac, iPhone, and iPad designed to facilitate the management of notes, tasks, and documents within a unified interface. Each note comprises a title and accompanying text and can have an associated deadline, which may be set as recurring (daily, weekly, etc.). Notes can also include an indicator of their expected completion status and support attachments of various file types, enabling efficient archiving and retrieval of documents.

Notes can be tagged with predefined or custom labels, allowing for straightforward sorting and filtering. Additionally, the application offers synchronization with Apple Calendar upon user authorization and supports import/export functionalities with Apple Reminders.

It is important to note that the note text itself does not support advanced formatting options such as italics, bold, or lists, nor does it offer encryption capabilities. For documents requiring formatting or security—such as meeting minutes—the recommended approach is to prepare them using a dedicated word processor and attach these files to a note. The note content should be reserved for brief remarks like agendas or decision summaries, which can then be tagged and searched effectively. Modifications to attached documents are saved within the original files unless they are compressed archives.

Attached documents are managed as part of the note; while only the files themselves are stored within mxNotes, the application functions as an editor for attached documents created with external word processors. Changes made to non-compressed attachments are preserved in the original files.

The application automatically synchronizes data via iCloud across devices linked to the same Apple account. Users can also export notes in plain text format or as CSV files, which are compatible with Numbers or other spreadsheet applications and can be imported into other tools as needed.

mxNotes does not require any permissions to access user data beyond optional access to the Calendar and Reminders for synchronization purposes.
